After Kiran Bedi, the number on women IPS increased in such great speed that it became impossible to count them on fingers. This is a very good symbol, as it prove that there is no discrimination made with any of the candidates based on gender. The saying that everyone is equal under the eye of law is not just on papers but also in real practice. Let me introduce you to another woman IPS of our nation Bharti Arora of 1998 batch. She belongs from Haryana Cadre.

Recently this lady officer were on Hot Lines of media as had made an allegation against her senior, boss, Commissioner of Police Navdeep Singh Virk. The allegation which she made is of harassment and mental torture and fallaciously interfering in the enquiry into a high-profile rape case. As Bharti is from 1998 batch and Navdeep Singh Virk is an officer from 1994 batch but one thing is common in them is that both of them belong to Haryana Cadre. However, Navdeep Singh Virk is denying all the allegations put against him.

Bharti told to media that she has written letter to Haryana DGP Yashpal Singhal and she is demanding for higher level investigation including the CBI into the fallacious interference of Virk in the alleged rape case.

Talking about the rape case, Bharti Arora said that the complainant has earlier also made such charges of rape and harassment against the two man. During the probe, it was found that the alleged rape accused Ajay Bhardwaj who is the son of a senior IAS officer and his family was intentionally culpably involved in this rape case.

Bharti Arora even said that when she initiated the investigation and as the fact of the case started to get uncover she eventually came to know that the Commissioner of Police Virk has wrongfully involved the entire family of the accused. Then she objected and tried to stop him. The Officer Virk started torturing her mentally, he even periled her and asked her to leave the case otherwise she will have to bear the consequences.

Earlier to that she had also written a letter to DGP Singhal complaining against the Commissioner of Police on asking his involvement in the case. She also wrote that Virk is likely to cause danger to her career.

On the other hand, Virk too wrote a report to the DGP blaming the Bharti Arora is getting prejudiced on saving the rape accused as the sister of the accused is her friend.

The court in his judgement charged Ajay Bharadwaj, an MNC executive and the son of Gurgaon’s former IAS deputy Commissioner R.P. Bharadwaj with the offence of rape u/s 375 and punished him accordingly u/s 376 and his family members for criminal intimidation u/s 506 of Indian Penal code.

The complainant was Bharadwaj’s former live-in partner. She is the resident of Ardee City Gurgaon, she also had a child with the accused. Mr Bharadwaj was arrested from his office in Noida on August 1, 2014, by the Gurgaon police. The disceptation started in last year July when Arora was told to investigate the case. At that time, Virk was not posted as Gurgaon police chief.

Bharti said that she carried out the investigation and on research she found that the offences mentioned in the FIR could not be made out, but Virk wanted to charge the accused.

Responding to her allegations, Virk said that Bharti is levelling such wrong charges to hide her own illegal activity, as a report for taking the wrong action against her has been sending to DGP of Haryana.
He also said that it feels sad that his colleague had to agree false statements in the media in matters which are official and under the consideration of the Police Headquarters, so that she can hide her own misconduct.

Virk talking about the case said that the rape victim has been provided security on the orders of Supreme court and also she had made many complaints against the misdemean of DCP Bharti Arora.

Whose allegation is right and whose is false is yet to be decided by the authorities of Police. But this allegation had put a black spot, on the whole, police department.

Bharti Arora IPS Officer Protects Haryana Cows

Bharti Arora Haryana police officer – The roadside biryani with succulent pieces of meat has always been popular with locals in Haryana’s Mewat, but the mouth-watering dish started making national headlines last week after police seized samples to test for the presence of suspected beef.

Alongside the biryani, the unprecedented police action has catapulted the state’s unique Cow Protection Police Task Force headed by a deputy inspector general-rank officer to the centre stage. The one-of-its-kind team is tasked with enforcing a ban on cow slaughter and smuggling.

Fearful of more trouble and a continuing police crackdown, biryani sellers are blaming the DIG. “a lady police officer has imposed strictness” they say.

But the 1998 IPS officer Bharti Arora, is unflustered. “Cow is a significant issue as it is related to the sentiments of a large section of the population. Issues related to cow often lead to violence and create law and order problem, necessitating police intervention,” she says, defending her job as a ‘cow protector’.

Ironically, last week’s raids on the biryani stalls were not ordered by her, but by the state Gau Seva Aayog (Cow Service Commission). Officials say the commission ordered the district police to check for beef in the biryani sold in Mewat.

Besides being the chief cow protector, Bharti Arora holds two other responsibilities: She is the DIG for police welfare and training, and the principal of Motilal Nehru School of Sports at Rai in Sonepat.

But it is her role as cow protector and her cow protection force that are the subject of endless curiosity.

IPS Bharti Arora, however, has taken the task in her stride and claims she is more than happy doing it. A disciple of Radha-Krishna, she turns sentimental when it comes to the subject of cows.

“Smuggling of cattle or cows is a crime of the highest order. We have found that those involved in these activities are hardcore criminals with several police cases against them. Money from cattle smuggling is also used for anti-social and anti-national activities,” she points out.

Her cow protection force is taking shape right now. Each district will have a dedicated team comprising an inspector, sub-inspector and assistant sub-inspector, two head constables and 12 constables to enforce the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act 2015. The act bans cow slaughter, making it punishable with 10 years in jail and a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh.

Right now, she functions from an office allotted in the administrative block of the police complex at Bhondsi, 15kms from Gurgaon, and coordinates with district police superintendents over the phone.

“I hold meetings with district superintendents of police and make them aware about importance of the issue,” she says.

Bharti Arora IPS is required to keep a tab on slaughter houses, check sources of smuggling of beef and bovine animals, and prepare a database of those involved in cow slaughter and beef smuggling. As one of her aides puts it, protecting cows is no child’s play in politically charged Haryana.
